I was born and raised in Owosso, surrounded by the people and places that make this county special. Like many others, I had to leave for work for over a decade because the job opportunities I needed just weren’t here. Being away reminded me just how lucky I am to call this place home. The warmth of our community, the familiar faces, farmers markets, and the values we all share are what brought me back.
I’ve always felt pushed to do everything I can to make life better for my family, my friends, and my neighbors. I know many of you feel the same. Despite our political differences, we all want the best for our community. We want safe neighborhoods, good schools, and opportunities for our kids to thrive right here in Shiawassee County. We’re all working toward the same goals, even if we have different ideas on how to get there.
That’s why voting is so important. Whether you’re casting your ballot for township roles, city council, county positions, or state and national offices, your voice matters. Voting is the most powerful way to shape the future of our community and our nation. When we all participate, we get a government that reflects the values and priorities of all of us—not just a select few.
So, I urge everyone to go out and vote this Tuesday, November 5th. No matter where you stand on the issues, your vote is essential to making sure Shiawassee County continues to be the incredible place we all call home.
Election information available on the Michigan Secretary of State website: https://www.michigan.gov/sos/elections/voting.
Thank you, and see you at the polls!
Very Respectfully,
Stephen Schlaack
Chairperson, Shiawassee County Democratic Party
