With massive thanks to all who attended and helped organize the event, I'm excited to share the success of our recent "Run for Office 101" workshop. As the Chair of the Shiawassee County Democratic Party, witnessing the fervor and determination within our community was nothing short of inspiring. With the 2024 election cycle upon us, this event was a crucial step in demystifying the process of running for local office.
We understand the importance of representation in every corner of the county. The event, held at A Woman's Workshop - a local business in Westown Owosso, became a beacon for change, emphasizing that local offices impact our daily lives in profound ways. Through educating about these roles, from maintaining parks to deciding on local infrastructure, we continue to be inspired by the spark of civic duty in the hearts of our attendees.
Our guest speakers, like former State Rep. Francis Spaniola, shared invaluable insights, reinforcing that determination and community engagement can defy political headwinds. Their stories resonated with our audience, including newcomers to politics who are now contemplating runs for positions like school board trustees.
As we move forward, the Shiawassee Dems are energized and ready to support every aspiring candidate. Our doors are open, and our resources are at the ready for those who seek to make a difference. The surge in local interest assures me that we are on the precipice of change. In the spirit of public service, let's carry this momentum into the elections and beyond. Together, we can shape the future of Shiawassee County for the better.
Yours in Solidarity,
Shiawassee County Democratic Party
